Using “Hero” images in web designs has become a popular trend.  For me, hero images add visual flare and attractiveness to a web page design.  Full-width hero images can help display a product you are trying to sell or they can beautifully present your photography work.  Along side hero images in website designs today you will also find large page headers.  Having a large page header can take away from some of the distraction that a hero image may present to some viewers.  On many websites today you will also find full-width sliders or carousels that display high resolution images, which can add further visual appeal to your website.  If you do a web search for the best portfolio designs, you will get further confirmation that hero images are a popular trend.  Even many WordPress themes on the market give you the ability to use full-width, high resolution, hero images in your layout.

So what’s your design style? Are you a fan of the hero image? If you need more convincing on how a hero can improve your own website, take a look at Line 25’s post on 30 Web Designs that Fully Embrace the Hero Image.
